TOP 5 CONCEPT CARS I HOPE ARE MADE!

1 - Bugatti Galibier

The Bugatti Galibier 16C Concept will be the greatest sedan ever made. While the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera Turbo can be considered super-sedans in their own right, the Galibier 16C is in a class of its own: it's powered by an 8.0-liter W-16 engine mated to a twin-clutch gearbox, 800-horsepower output and hosues more sculpture, art and fine materials than an equivalent space at the Louvre. The car will cost a whopping $1.6 million if produced.

2 - Saab Aero-X

The Saab Aero-X is a concept car by Saab unveiled at the 2006 Salon International de l'Auto. It is powered by a 2.8 L twin-turbocharged V6 running on pure ethanol that produces an immpresive 300 kW (400 hp). 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is predicted to be 4.9 s and top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). It has a 7-speed manual transmission controlled by paddles on the steering wheel. The doors and windscreen are connected, so instead of using conventional doors or even gullwing doors, it uses a cockpit canopy where the entire top section of the car is opened. This offered the Aero X's driver full 180 degree vision, and also facilitates entry and exit from its low-slung cabin. The interior offers "clean Scandinavian interior design". The car has no ordinary dials and buttons; instead, data is displayed on acrylic 'clear zones' in graphic 3D images. All interior and exterior lights utilize LEDs.

3 - GT by Citroën

The GT by Citroën is a sports car that debuted as a concept car on October 2 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The car is a collaboration between the French automaker Citroën and the Japanese racing simulation developer Polyphony Digital. The GT by Citroën concept car was specially created, designed and produced for the upcoming video game Gran Turismo 5 and was included through download in its latest version Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Its designer came up with the project and sold it to both Polyphony Digital and Citroën. The car in the game features a fuel cell powering four electric motors delivering 780 bhp (582 kW; 791 PS), however the real car has a V8 petrol engine. The car's weight is 1,400 kg (3,086 lb). In June 2009, Citroën hinted plans to possibly produce a limited number (6) of GTs for sale to the public, each costing $1.8 million.

4 - BMW GINA

BMW presents GINA, a new take on car design, materials, and flexibility. GINA stands for "Geometry and functions In 'N' Adaptations". The GINA replaces the traditional metal/plastic skin with a textile fabric skin that’s pulled taut around a frame of metal and carbon fiber wires. Even the shape of the car can change. The GINA philosophy offers designers as well as development and production specialists an opportunity to challenge existing principles and conventional processes. Solutions that will benefit the car of the future are examined without predefined rules and from as many perspectives as possible. This also involves questioning what is believed to be set in stone. Does a car roof really have to rest on pillars and be bordered by windows? Do all functions have to be visible at all times, even when they are not needed? How many personalization options does my car offer? Are there any possible alternatives to the rigid body shell made of steel or plastic? Questions like these lead to groundbreaking, cross-segmental solutions - and visions of the future of individual mobility.

5 - Maybach Exelero

The Maybach Exelero is a high-performance sports car designed and built by German luxury car manufacturer Maybach. Commissioned by tyre company Fulda, the Exelero is a chopped-down two-seater coupe, though it's more than just a show car - in tests at the Nardo high-speed oval, the prototype reached a speed of 218.38mph, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes. It is capable of acceleration from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds. The car's design was the result of a competition amongst students at the Pforzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design, which has worked on show vehicles for Fulda in the past. The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located. The standard 550bhp V12 engine was bored out to 5.9 litres, and tuned for 700bhp and over 738lb ft of torque. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes.
